We picked this book for our book club this month because the story kicks off with a fake date on Thanksgiving! For just $25, a star hockey player will be your fake date to Thanksgiving dinner. A fellow college student and waitress—who’s used to serving him and his friends almost every night—decides to take him up on the offer. She needs a buffer from her tricky family dynamics, and he doesn’t want to go home for the holidays (plus, he could use the extra cash). Win, win, win? Despite what the cover might make you think, this book is actually pretty tame! It’s a sweet, slow-burn college romance. I almost hesitate to classify it as a B.R.A.D.!
