The Things We Cannot Say

my review : ✮✮✮✮✮
This book is incredible and has basically rendered me speechless.
This is a historical fiction novel set in Nazi-occupied Poland during WWII. We follow Alina Dziak, 15 years old, engaged to the love of her life, and coming to grips with her new reality as Nazi soldiers invade her small town. This story alternates between modern-day and Nazi-occupied Poland. Like any story set during this time, it is incredibly devastating, heartbreaking, and necessary reading.
I love this book and recommend it if you love historical fiction or just want to try something new. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with this novel. Incredible storytelling. One of my favorite books of 2021.
After reading this book, I wanted to do a vodka tasting ASAP. I would pair this book with my friend’s recipe, the “Warsaw Cocktail”. 1 1/2 oz of vodka, blackberry-flavored brandy, dry vermouth, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Shake all ingredients and strain into a chilled glass.
**for my audiobook lovers: the reviews say this is an excellent audiobook!!** 👂
