Elizabeth of East Hampton

Elizabeth of East Hampton

Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding

my review : ✮✮✮✮

I found this modern-day Pride and Prejudice retelling to be totally delightful. What truly charmed me was the author’s ability to stay so true to the original text yet make changes that make this story relevant and feel like something that could happen in the modern day 🏄‍♂️!!

Elizabeth Bennet grew up in East Hampton, working at her family’s bakery with her five sisters. While she has big dreams of following her passion for journalism, she had to put those on hold when her dad had a stroke and someone needed to take over the bakery. We meet Elizabeth on MDW, her least favorite time of year, when the city folks descend on Elizabeth’s hometown. A necessary evil of living in the Hamptons is catering to the summer people. When Will Darcy stops by Elizabeth’s bakery on his first day in town, they get off on the wrong foot, kicking off an enemies-to-lovers story for the ages.

The authors swap long, meandering walks from the original for surfing and the English countryside for Montauk. It’s a book lover’s dream (and I think Ms. Austen would approve of the on-page spice). A truly charming book for any romance reader, especially if you’re an Austen fan!

This is book two in the For the Love of Austen series, a collection of modern-day retellings of Jane Austen’s work. Book 1 was based on Emma, and Book 3, Anne of Avenue A, will be a retelling of Persuasion, out in October!

I paired this drink with @join_jules’ delicious Bourbon Peach Lemonade. Perfect for a hot summer day!!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Modern-day Pride and Prejudice retellings

  • An enemies-to-lovers romance
