Anne of Avenue A
Anne of Avenue A

my review : ✮✮✮✮
This modern-day retelling of Persuasion is just a total delight. If you like your holiday books to be less Hallmark and more “love story set against a snowy backdrop,” you’re going to love this.
Anne has been keeping her father’s company afloat since college graduation, but when it all falls apart, she’s left without a job or a place to live. As she tries to piece together a plan for what’s next from a tiny apartment in the building she used to live in, she’s shocked when Freddie Wentworth knocks at the door to retrieve his keys from her realtor roommate. He’s the former love of her life who she hasn’t seen in eight years, and to both of their surprise, he just bought the condo she used to share with her dad.
Like all the retellings in the For the Love of Austen series, the authors do such an excellent job of being true to the original text while making it relevant (and sexy!) to the modern day! You don’t have to have read (or remembered) Persuasion to appreciate this, but if you have, it will make it all the sweeter.
Best paired with a holiday Negroni, swipe for the recipe!
