PS: I Hate You

PS: I Hate You

Lauren Connolly

my review : ✮✮✮

I found the premise of this book to be excellent: a grieving sister learns that her brother has asked her and his best friend to scatter his ashes around the country. The only issue is that his best friend is her sort-of ex, childhood crush, and current enemy. But she would do anything to spend even a moment with her brother again, even if those moments are confined to short letters he wrote them both as they embark on this cross-country pilgrimage.

This is the second book I’ve read in which the leading lady was unlikable to the point of distraction for me. I think it brings up an interesting point: in a romance, do we need to like our leading woman? Much of Maddie’s behavior is due to a childhood of trauma and present-day grief over losing her brother, which I am empathetic to.

As I said previously, I hate not loving a book, especially one that so many of you love. There were elements I enjoyed (found family, the whole cute ending, puzzles, lots of gin drinking, some sexy banter, etc.), but overall, I just didn’t love it.

If you’re looking for brother’s best friend, second-chance, open-door, road trip romance, check this out—it might be for you!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Second Chance Romance

  • Brother's Best Friend Romance
