Once and Again

Once and Again

Rebecca Serle

my review : ✮✮✮✮

I just love the way Rebecca Serle tells a story!

This is the story of the decisions we make and how they shape our lives, a story of love and loss and connection, and of mothers and daughters.

Lauren has known her entire life that her dad died in a car accident and her mother brought him back to life. Her mother used her single ticket that every woman in their family gets to undo one life-changing decision. Lauren has always known her ticket is hers to use, and when she spends a summer at her parents’ house in Malibu, where her ex has also surprisingly returned while her husband is working across the country in NYC, she starts wondering if maybe it is time she undoes one of her decisions.

I loved the writing, the vivid depiction of life in Malibu, the food, and the way this story was told. I wouldn’t characterize this as a romance, but it is chock full of love.

Best paired with Lauren’s favorite, an iced cortado with cinnamon, swipe for the recipe!

Please note that fertility is a huge theme of this book, if that is not something you want to read about at this time!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle

  • Books set in Malibu

  • Magical realism
