Abby Offsides

Abby Offsides

Anna McCallie

my review : ✮✮✮✮

This book hooked me from the beginning. The banter is unmatched, the book is funny without trying too hard, and the pining is almost unbearable (complimentary).

Abby’s just moved to Liverpool from Boston following her broken engagement to work for a football (⚽️) team despite knowing nothing about the sport. On the day of her interview, she meets Lachlan Ramsey, a gorgeous Scottish footballer who has just been transferred to the team. A very easy friendship forms between the two that will have you smiling and kicking your feet from the jump. But despite the fact that he and his wife live in different countries, Lachlan is still married, and Abby and Lachlan’s relationship needs to stay firmly in the friendship category.

While we have a very wealthy, penthouse-dwelling professional athlete, this story still felt quite realistic. At times I wanted to shake our leading lady, but who doesn’t need a good shake every now and then?

A story of love and healing and lots and lots of handsome footballers. I really enjoyed my time with these two! Best paired with a Scottish Whisky-no-E!! Just two fingers of the stuff and you’ll be feeling warm, fuzzy, and potentially even contemplating a move to rainy Liverpool.

*Let’s talk about the married man elephant in the room. I know some readers are pretty black and white when it comes to a leading man who’s in a relationship, and I get it! If that’s you, I’d skip this one!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Sports romance

  • Books set in the UK

  • The World Cup
