How Lucky
How Lucky

my review : ✮✮✮
This book has been sitting on my shelf for approximately 8 months… and I finally picked it up! Go me!!
It’s a bit of a departure from what I normally read, and I found it really enjoyable and eye-opening.
So, this book follows our sweet and hilarious Daniel, who leads a pretty great, albeit quiet life, living on campus in Athens, Georgia. He considers himself to be a mostly lucky guy - despite the fact that he’s suffered from a debilitating disease since he was a child, one that has left him unable to speak or to move without a wheelchair. As Danny is pretty confined to his home, he enjoys people watching on his front porch. One college student passes by so frequently that spotting her out the window is part of his daily routine. Until the day he’s almost sure he sees her being kidnapped!!!
WOWZA!
Ok, so since Danny is unable to speak, the majority of this book happens in Danny’s head - and oh my god, this guy is funny. I truly laughed out loud several times.
I liked this book a lot. It was a unique read with a fresh voice. Pick it up if you want something a bit different. This book will refill your empathy bucket.
I found this awesome account @disabilityreframed that’s focused on reeducation on disability that I’m going to be following after reading this book and meeting Daniel.
