Annie Knows Everything
Annie Knows Everything
Rachel Wood
my review : ✮✮✮✮
I picked this book up while in the hospital after having a baby! I didn’t want anything too heavy, nor did I want a 1000 page slow-burn romance, and I wanted to laugh! This fit the bill perfectly, but I do have to give the whole just-had-a-baby disclaimer because my hormones are all over the place. I am basically giving a review under the influence of oxytocin!
Annie just got laid off from her job, and in a move that could only happen in a fictional romance, her BFF works in HR at her company and gets her a new job on a team she is completely unqualified for. She will be reporting to a hot computer geek who makes you realize you, too, might be into hot computer geeks.
The workplace romance and geekiness of it all was a bit reminiscent of Ali Hazelwood. I will say we get really into the weeds on this tech company to a degree I didn’t think was necessary! Maybe because I used to work in tech and spent time stressing about what was coming out in the 3.0 release, it felt a bit too realistic reading about a workplace where people were also stressing about bugs and features in their 3.0 release!!
Annie is funny and annoying and really does think she knows everything, but I am also annoying, so I can sympathize with her. She’s either going to drive you crazy or totally entertain you, or both!
I had fun with this and am excited to read more by this author! Oh, also, it’s not a B.R.A.D., but it is open door!
