my review : ✮✮✮
This is a super quick, impossible-to-put-down thriller that was creepy in the perfect way for spooky season, but not so creepy that I couldn’t sleep at night. The whole story reminded me a bit of the Scream movies in that they have an over-the-top slasher vibe with some bumbling main characters and some dark humor, but I found it to be entertaining nonetheless.
Sydney is in her early 30s, living in NYC, and just wants to meet The One. We meet her after another terrible date - the worst one yet - that leaves Sydney rattled. Then, one of Sydney’s neighbors is brutally murdered, and as the police investigate what happens, it seems like a serial killer is running loose in NYC, one who dates his victims before he kills them...
I will leave it there to avoid any spoilers! This story is told via two POVs and two timelines.
When you read this, please comment if you guessed the killer correctly. I was WAY off!
When Sydney picked up a bottle of tequila for her date one evening (a move that really made me LOL), I knew I had to pair this book with something tequila-based. This twisty thriller is best enjoyed with a TWIST on apple cider: the apple cider margarita! Recipe by @serenagwolf 🍎🍏
