If It Makes You Happy

If It Makes You Happy

my review : ✮✮✮

There was so much to love about this book: immaculate fall vibes, two lovable kids who made me feel like I was visiting an episode of Full House, a small town filled with charm, and it was all set in 1997, so there was a hefty dose of nostalgia!

This was a very sweet romance about a woman who takes over her mom’s bed and breakfast in the small town of Copper Run, Vermont. Michelle just needs to keep the B&B afloat from September until Christmas, when her sister graduates college, takes over the B&B, and Michelle can move back to the big city of Seattle.

Unfortunately, Michelle is lacking in the baking and warm personality departments required to be a good B&B owner. Do you know who’s willing to give her tips? Her very hot, sexy, forearm-wielding neighbor, who is the town baker and single dad of two girls.

It’s a really lovely book to read this time of year, as it’s split into sections depending on the month. This town rivals Stars Hollow in terms of holiday cheer, and you’ll be craving your own small-town gazebo. Overall, I thought this was a sweet little story—actually not so little! It’s over 500 pages! At times, it did feel a bit long, but opening it up every night felt like revisiting old friends.

Best paired with the Bird and Breakfast Brown Sugar Latte. While Michelle didn’t have time to whip this up in the fall of 1997, I think by now she’d have this as a signature afternoon pick-me-up.

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Small Town Romances

  • Gilmore Girls
