Phoebe Berman, hopeless romantic and avid romance novel reader, is a virgin and is determined to change that by her 30th birthday… which is in 30 days. In order to achieve this, she pulls out her fanciest pens and makes a laminated “Guide to Losing My Virginity” checklist that ranges from “leave my number for a waiter” to “advertise myself on Craigslist.” With the support of her friends and the caution of her therapist, she embarks on a journey to get laid in 30 days.

The premise is very fun and rom-commy, and while this book is laugh-out-loud funny, it also showcases a leading lady struggling with anxiety that is all twisted up in her romantic relationships, which makes intimacy very challenging. From the author’s note on page one to the very end, it is honest, vulnerable, and heartwarming.

I think if you go into this book expecting less of a romance and more of a coming of age story with some romance sprinkled in, you’ll have a lot of fun reading this.
