The Love Haters

The Love Haters - Katherine Center

my review : ✮✮✮

Katherine Center loves what she does, and it shows. She is constantly celebrating romance novels in articles (check out her guest article on predictability in romance novels in Nerd Daily), and her Author’s Notes are love letters to my favorite genre! Her latest book is a quick, sweet love story.

Our story follows Katie (stunning name), who is a videographer sent to the Florida Keys to follow the U.S. Coast Guard station there, specifically one U.S. Coast Guardsman, Hutch. He’s hot, he’s a hero, and he hates love. That’s fine, because so does Katie! She can’t swim, and he has a six-pack, really the perfect recipe for a great romance.

The love story happens fast, but I found it to be sweet and downright funny at times. The real love story in this book is Katie’s with her body. Katherine Center calls it enemies-to-lovers, and I think that’s brilliant. Check trigger warnings and be ready to dive in (pun intended) to a love story that deals with some heavy subject matter.

The story zigs and it zags and gets a little convoluted and cheesy from time to time, but ultimately, I had a great time reading it. A quick, sweet romance that feels like a celebration of all the good stuff in life.

Best paired with @nikki.sips’ Summer Sangria! Swipe for her recipe 🍋🍓

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • A short & sweet romance

  • A romance with real-life struggles

  • A hot Coastguardsman

my favorite quote:

“Reading love stories isn’t frivolous. It’s profound. It’s not escape, it’s the opposite.”
