The Poison Daughter

The Poison Daughter

Sheila Masterson

my review : ✮✮✮✮

Whew! This book was a doozy. If you’re a romantasy reader, this book reminded me more of Blood & Ash than ACOTAR. It’s definitely a B.R.A.D. (meaning pretty steamy), and the plot and unexpected twists kept me on my toes! It’s a standalone romantasy, which was EXACTLY what I wanted. It’s long, but I think that’s the only way to introduce a whole new world to the reader and wrap it up in a nice, neat bow by the end!

Harlow has a rare kind of magic: any man she kisses will die immediately. By day, her parents have her using her magic on their political adversaries and anyone they deem fit, but by night, Harlow is a vigilante targeting the abusive men in her city. When Harlow’s parents set up her second arranged marriage (her first husband is now dead), she’s dreading the match, but nothing can prepare her once she meets her husband and learns that not only is he gorgeous, he’s also the only one immune to her magic.

Overall, I could not put this down. It satisfied my romantasy craving without having me embark on a 10-book series!

Moments of darkness, so check trigger warnings.
