Ariel Sullivan

my review : ✮✮✮✮✮

A fly-by-your-bedtime, don’t-even-regret-it-in-the-morning book. There’s nothing I didn’t like about this one!

Emeline is a Minor, expected to live her life with the goal of one day Mating with an Elite, a large group of the population who literally live in the clouds above the Minors. The entire society, Minors and Elite alike, is governed by the Ilium, an all-seeing, powerful, and deadly group. Imagine everyone’s surprise when the youngest member of the Ilium takes the first mate in decades: Emeline.

This is romance first, dystopian second. As I said when reviewing Silver Elite (another dystopian romance, although I preferred this one between the two), don’t go in expecting 1984 or Fahrenheit 451!

If you’re like me, you’re most concerned about the romance; you’re not ready to wade through a depressing dystopian world if no one is kissing! The romance is excellent, there’s a totally not frustrating love triangle, and the book is sexy but not a B.R.A.D.

If you’re like me, you are secondarily concerned about the plot (I kid!). The writing is so well done and, between us girls, had me realizing I’ve been settling for some pretty average romantasy.

To say I’m waiting with bated breath for the next book is an understatement. Book one in a trilogy. Best paired with a proper tea service, including gold-dusted cake!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Silver Elite

  • ACOTAR

  • Dystopian Romance
