The Correspondent

The Correspondent

Virginia Evans

my review : ✮✮✮✮✮

Masterful storytelling! A departure from my usual reads. Sybil Van Antwerp is in her seventies, and her favorite method of communication is letter writing. Sure, she will succumb to the odd email if the situation warrants it, but her time at her desk with her mug of tea and her cream stationery is her own slice of heaven.

This story follows Sybil’s correspondence over the course of five years. It’s heartfelt and heartbreaking, solemn and funny, and it delved deeper into grief than I was prepared for, but I found myself completely enraptured by the story.

This book has me itching to pen my own letter to a friend in a far-flung corner of the country (I am admittedly a terrible texter, so maybe this is the solution?) or even to a friend just a few states over.

Best paired with a stack of your most luxurious stationery and your favorite ballpoint pen.

you’ll love this book if you love:
