The Most Fun We Ever Had
The Most Fun We Ever Had
Claire Lombardo
my review : ✮✮✮✮
This book packs quite a punch. It’s a long, sweeping story.
This story follows Marilyn & David Sorenson and their four adult daughters through their trials and tribulations over the years. It made me so introspective about motherhood and family, and it surprised me with how much conversation it sparked between my husband and me (whenever I ask him a random, deep question, he’s always like, “What are you reading?”).
The Sorensen family is a bit dysfunctional. It’s unflinching in its portrayal of the daughters, and I truly disliked each one of them at some point or another. I thought the storytelling was exquisite.
The feedback I’ve got on this book has been mixed. The majority of readers adored it, but those who didn’t seemed to find fault with the characters. So, if you need to love the characters in order to love the book, this might not be for you.
I loved the storytelling, the Chicago backdrop, and the layered and nuanced relationships. I would die for a Jonah Epilogue written 20 years in the future, that boy 🩷🩷🩷
