Emily Henry could write a trigonometry textbook, and it would be the best thing I’ve read this year. If you’re a fan of romance or have always wanted to give it a try, picking this up should be the easiest decision you make today.

Harriet & Wynn are one of those couples that seem to have been written in the stars. Like a cold glass of Sancerre and a lobster roll, these two go together perfectly. That is, until they break up and decide not to tell their best friends. This is how they find themselves on their annual friend trip in gorgeous Maine, sharing a bed (!!). While this vacation is typically Harriet’s happy place... what gets her through her grueling residency and endless San Francisco rainy days... this year, she’s forced to lie to her friends, as the cottage has been sold and this will be the last week they have together in this place. Who are Harriet and Wynn to break their friend’s hearts? After all, after years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week?

This story is equal parts heady anticipation, butterfly-inducing banter, and heartstring-pulling real-life emotion. Emily Henry turns the English language into something decadent that you want to relish.

I adored Harriet and really, really related to her. Like, more than I’d like to admit.

I think Emily’s books are best enjoyed when you can fully get lost in the story. Best gobbled up sitting on a porch early in the morning before everyone else has gotten up, or curled up in a rocking chair after everyone has tucked into bed. Like all good things in life, this book is meant to be savored.

Read this one with a crisp white wine or a strong dark coffee. I personally enjoyed it with a glass of Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc that I dragged out from the back of my fridge and a hunk of sharp cheddar cheese and crackers.
