This book is a doozy! I love Kat St. John and how I never know what I will get when I pick up one of her books. I went in totally blind to this one and was not disappointed. 

Sveta, a former model, lives a very glamorous life as she’s engaged to be married into a very wealthy family and runs around NYC in couture. Despite modeling, high fashion, and a wealthy beau, she is super relatable. Sveta’s life as she knows it comes to a screeching halt when she gets a phone call one day to learn that her estranged uncle has died and has left his entire estate, including his wellness center in the jungle in Mexico, to her. She travels to this estate to pay her respects. At first, it seemed like a secluded paradise. But soon, Sveta realizes the truth behind the community and its leader is much more disturbing. 

While reading this book, I felt like I was watching one of those horror movies where you are screaming at the main character not to go into the creepy basement alone… I often wanted to shake Sveta and ask where her critical thinking had gone! 

Overall, the story was gripping and very hard to put down. There are many triggers related to cults, so be sure to do your own research to see if this is for you. 

Kat St. John is always able to write a very gripping and glamorous thriller. She will forever be an auto-buy for me.
