When You Loved Me
When You Loved Me
Beatriz Williams
my review : ✮✮✮✮
Beatriz Williams is a master at marrying a present day storyline with the past. When I started this book, I found myself a bit disoriented by all of the various threads and POVs, but once I sank my teeth into it, I was hooked.
This story is about a woman who has returned to Winthrop Island following the slightly mysterious death of her father. Lucy is a young widow who moves to her father’s estate with her daughter to settle his affairs, but things get complicated when she realizes her new neighbor is her first love, who she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Lucy is grieving her father but resents his lifelong obsession with locating a life-changing pirate’s treasure that local legend says is buried on their estate.
Part romance, part mystery, part historical fiction. More mystery than romance, more modern day than historical fiction. Honestly, I could have spent all 300+ pages reading the pirate’s love story, but I am a sucker for a bad boy who will burn it all down for the one he loves!
To sum it up, I really enjoyed this book!
In the spirit of rum runners, we will be pairing this with a Rum Runner!! Swipe for the recipe!
